About Us

Message from the President

In February 2020, we established the NPO Humming of Gorillas with the aim of protecting gorillas, the great apes that live in the tropical rainforests of Africa.

Many people may think, “Isn’t the interior of Africa a faraway place?” However, protecting gorillas means protecting the forests that are their habitat, which will help stop deforestation on a global scale.

Gorillas are currently at risk of extinction due to the shrinking of national parks, which are their important habitats, poaching, and the threat of infectious diseases. We will report the current situation of these gorillas to the public, while supporting the governments and local people of each country who are working hard to protect them.

To protect gorillas, we must closely observe their ecology. We will also support gorilla monitoring and research by providing equipment such as cameras and computers, as well as workshops on how to use them.

National park rangers and local people work in primary forests where there is no disinfectant or water. Prevention of zoonoses such as Ebola hemorrhagic fever and COVID-19 is urgent. We will do our best to confront these issues.

To pass on to the next generation a sustainable global environment where humans and nature can coexist happily.
